Heather Whitefield assumed the reins of the Vassar fencing program with the start of the 2001-2002 academic year. She succeeds long time coach Matt Lampell, who retired after a distinguished coaching career at Vassar. Whitefield served as an assistant coach at Vassar for six years prior to assuming her current position. After completing her bachelor's degree in sociology and psychology at Gordon College, Whitefield was a nationally ranked Epee fencer and Modern Pentathlete.
