Tips on Unofficial Visits:
An unofficial visit is arranged
and completely financed by the prospective student athlete
himself (excluding complimentary tickets to an athletic event
at a particular school). An unofficial visit is a great recruiting
tool to
promote oneself and show interest in a particular school
or athletic program. Here are some tips to consider for an
unofficial visit:
* Gather information about the universities/colleges and
their respective athletic program, admission standards, degrees
offered etc.
* Be active in the recruiting process and pick 5-10 schools
of your choice.
* Mail or e-mail your personal profile, high school transcript,
test scores and a club/ODP/schedule to the coach at the beginning
of your junior year in high school
* Ask about a meeting time with the head or assistant coach
when you are on campus to visit the school. Try to combine
the meeting with a practice session of the varsity team, if
possible. That way you see the coaches and players in action.
* Find out about the graduating senior class of your entering
year and the positions a coach needs to replace.
* You are allowed to make more than one unofficial visit
to
particular institution. Gather as much academic and athletic
information about that college/university and take advantage
of this opportunity.
