What does it take to play college Ice Hockey ?

All coaches wish they had the easy answer to give students and parents. The fact is there is no easy answer. One or two factors don't determine who makes it and who doesn't make it. College ice hockey coaches look for a combination of factors when evaluating players.

I look for a variety of things when I am recruiting student-athletes to fill my roster. First and foremost is the ability to balance the "vicious circle". Contained within that vicious circle are three elements- school, hockey, and social life. Players need to have the maturity to devote equal and quality amounts of time to all three. Putting too much into any one of them will result in major problems for the other two.
