Amanda O'Leary, the 1996 USWLA Regional Coach
of the year, is in her tenth season at the helm of the Yale
women's lacrosse program. In her first six years in New Haven,
O'Leary built the Bulldogs into a national power, guiding
them to two ECAC Championships (1994,95) and an overall mark
of 83-29 (.741). In the 1999 season, the Bulldogs matched
the school record with 14 wins, the second time in O'Leary's
tenure they have accomplished that feat, and reached the championship
game of the ECAC Tournament. In 1995, Yale went 14-2 and matched
the school record for most wins in a season set by the 1978
and 1979 squads. In 1996 Yale had a 10-4 mark, finished second
in the Ivy League and earned a national ranking.
The Bulldogs have won at least 10 games in
every year O'Leary has been at the helm. 2001 was no different
story as the Elis tore through the first games of their season,
going 8-0 under O'Leary's tutelage. The Bulldogs finished
the season at a solid 10-6 and enjoyed national top 25 rankings
throughout the season, peaking at seventh.
